  6. It is mentioned in page number 178 of the 21st chapter of Sri Lalit Vistara Granth that coincidentally, Gautam Buddha also acquired knowledge by doing penance at the same place where Lord Buddha had done penance. For this reason also people consider both as one.
  7. Gautam Buddha was born in the forests of Kapilvastu in 477 BC. It is said that Lord Buddha had appeared in Gaya, Bihar about 5 thousand years ago.
  8. According to Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran and Shrinarsimha Puran, Lord Buddha came to this earth about 5 thousand years ago. Whereas according to senior German scholar Max Muller, Gautam Buddha came 2491 years ago. That means Gautam Buddha and Lord Buddha are different.

Amar Singh was considered one of the nine gems of King Vikramaditya's royal court. He had composed the book Amarkosh (the famous dictionary of Sanskrit language). In that book, 10 names of Lord Buddha and 5 synonyms of Gautam Buddha were written in the same order, which became an important reason for the confusion of considering Gautam Buddha and Lord Buddha as one and the same.


The Gotra of both Lord Buddha and Gautam Buddha was 'Gautam', which was the main reason for considering both of them as one. In Agnipuran, Lord Buddha has been called Lambakarna, which means one with long ears. After this, tall statues of Lord Buddha started being made.
