You must have heard the word quarantine a lot during the Corona period. An infected person was quarantined to prevent the infection from spreading to others. Now a similar feature is going to come in your phone also, which will protect the device from virus attacks. According to a report, Android 15 is expected to arrive on Pixel smartphones later this year and many of its features have been revealed through the developer preview and first public beta release. Google is reportedly working on a very useful feature that can help users isolate any malicious app on their smartphones once they detect it. If this feature is added to the final Android 15 release, the operating system may be able to 'quarantine' apps, just like antivirus programs on Windows.

App quarantine feature will work like this
This feature has been spotted by Android Authority on the latest Android 15 beta. Google is working on the ability to allow a system app – like Google Play Services or the Play Store – to isolate apps and enforce certain restrictions on them, he said. Once an app is quarantined, its capabilities will be severely limited, which may prevent it from performing malicious activities on the user's device.

app quarantine feature
According to the report, the code for the app quarantine feature is present on Android 15, but it has not been enabled yet. Based on the current code, the feature will reportedly prevent an isolated (quarantined) app from showing notifications, hide its window and pause its activities, stop it from ringing the device, and block other apps. It will also prevent you from interacting with some services.
Google is reportedly working on a "QUARANTINE_APPS" permission that can only be granted to apps signed by the same certificate that Google uses to sign the Android operating system - effectively the Play Store. (or Google Play Services) limits the ability to quarantine apps.

Windows computers already have this capability
It is worth noting that while anti-malware software for Windows computers is also able to isolate apps, Android is more secure than Windows and apps cannot access any part of the phone without permission from the user. . Due to which, quarantined apps will still appear in the app drawer on Android 15, but tapping on the greyed-out icon will tell users that the app is not available, while two buttons - OK and Unquarantined Apps - will appear, according to the report. .

There is no word on whether this feature will be available with Android 15, as it was first seen in the developer build of Android 14 in 2022. If Google decides to release this feature on Android 15, it seems that only Play Store or Google Play Services apps will be able to perform the quarantine function.
